Planting green trees paves the way for steady growth and development. This seminar coincides with Yuguang Group's 60th anniversary since its establishment. In his speech, Yang Anguo highlighted the company's remarkable journey over the past six decades: As a leading large-scale enterprise in the non-ferrous metals industry and China's largest lead-zinc smelting company, Yuguang Group has closely adhered to its strategic vision of "strengthening the core non-ferrous metals business, expanding the circular economy, accelerating transformation and upgrading, and enhancing capital operations." To achieve these goals, the group has invested nearly 10 billion yuan in constructing a series of landmark projects—such as the first and second phases of the 300,000-ton electric zinc plant, the 80,000-ton molten pool smelting project for direct lead production, as well as the first and second phases of the comprehensive utilization project for waste lead-acid batteries and the technical upgrade project for smelting slag treatment—all of which have significantly shaped Yuguang's trajectory. Today, the company's lead, zinc, and copper smelting technologies, processes, and equipment have reached advanced international and domestic standards. Leveraging the complementary advantages of lead, zinc, and copper smelting, Yuguang has successfully pioneered a new model that integrates recycled lead with primary lead production, thereby propelling the lead industry onto a sustainable "production-consumption-recycling" cycle. As a result, the company has become the world's largest enterprise dedicated to processing waste lead-acid batteries and serves as a national benchmark for the development of the recycled lead industry. By 2017, the company's total output value is expected to surpass 30 billion yuan.
In his speech, Chen Quanxun affirmed the achievements of Yuguang Group, stating that after 60 years of challenges and perseverance, Yuguang Group has consistently upheld the belief of "Moving Mountains Like Yu Gong—Dedicated to Serving the Country Through Industry." Despite numerous obstacles, the company has steadily advanced, transforming from a small local smelting enterprise into a key backbone enterprise in China's nonferrous metals industry today. Moreover, Yuguang Group has played a vital role in driving technological advancements, fostering innovation, promoting green development, and expanding applications within the industry’s lead, zinc, and copper sectors—as well as in the field of circular economy—thus contributing significantly to the sustainable growth of these industries.
Chen Quanxun pointed out that the non-ferrous industry, particularly the copper and lead-zinc smelting sectors, has made significant efforts toward green development and achieved remarkable results. In terms of process technology, copper-smelting methods such as the "Double Flash" and "Double Bottom Blowing," which boast independent intellectual property rights, as well as lead-smelting processes like the "Three-Unit Continuous Furnace Direct Lead Refining," have been widely adopted and promoted, enabling the industry to achieve world-class performance in energy conservation and emission reduction. On the front of resource recycling, under the stringent pressure of environmental inspections, a number of unlicensed secondary lead and secondary copper enterprises have been phased out or shut down. As a result, waste metal resources are now increasingly concentrated in large-scale, standardized production facilities, fostering the sustained and healthy growth of the secondary metals industry. In terms of pollution prevention and control, guided by the comprehensive prevention and control principles encompassing source prevention, cleaner production, and end-of-pipe treatment, many companies have carried out targeted technological upgrades in key areas and critical stages where heavy-metal pollutants are generated. These measures have effectively reduced the emissions of harmful substances such as mercury, cadmium, lead, and arsenic at their source, elevating both pollution control and resource utilization to new heights.
Chen Quanxun emphasized that advancing environmental protection and green development in the industry remains a long and challenging journey. Specifically regarding lead, zinc, and copper, there are four key areas that require particular attention: First, we must persistently develop new technologies and cultivate innovative business models, continuously improving and refining pollution-control techniques. We should strive to break through the biggest bottleneck—heavy-metal pollution control—and establish a market-driven system for green technology innovation. Second, we need to consistently promote resource conservation and circular utilization, further reducing energy and material consumption in production processes. This will enable the creation of a circular link among copper, lead, and zinc resources across society, ultimately building an industrial system focused on circular, sustainable growth. Third, we must spare no effort in accelerating the integration of industrialization and信息化 (IT). By intelligently upgrading production equipment, we can drive cleaner production environments, comprehensively enhancing the industry's capacity for efficient and integrated resource use. This will help us build an intelligent, green manufacturing system tailored to the industry's needs. Finally, we must maintain steady, long-term efforts to improve the quality and efficiency of industrial development. In line with the goals set forth at the 19th National Congress, we must firmly focus on the real economy as the cornerstone of economic growth, embedding green development into every stage—from quality enhancement to profitability improvement. This approach will ensure the real economy continues to serve as a stabilizing force for sustained economic expansion.
Chen Quanxun expressed his hope that Yuguang Group would continue to strive forward, seize opportunities, embrace the new concept of green development, and lead the industry in its transformation and upgrading—working tirelessly toward the grand vision of building a century-old Yuguang and contributing wholeheartedly to the nation through industrial strength. At the same time, he encouraged colleagues across the industry to deepen mutual cooperation, foster a shared commitment to green development, and, amid China’s historic shift in economic and social progress, make even greater and more meaningful contributions to establishing the country as a global powerhouse in the nonferrous metals industry.
Zhang Zhanwei, during his speech, introduced Jiyuan's industrial economic structure. He stated that the Yuguang Group has made significant contributions to the healthy economic development of Jiyuan City over the past 60 years. Yuguang has consistently upheld a spirit of bold innovation and green smelting, always regarding environmental protection as the lifeline of the company. The group remains committed to building itself into the most environmentally friendly, green-smelting enterprise, effectively leading and driving the industry’s sustainable development and technological advancement.
At the meeting, Qiu Dingfan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Dr. Yanping Li from the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences; Feng Jun, Chief Expert at Beijing Antaike Information Co., Ltd.; and Liu Wei, Deputy Secretary-General of the Renewable Metals Branch under the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, delivered presentations titled "Industrial Greening and the Nonferrous Metals Industry," "Green Transformation of the Nonferrous Metals Sector in the New Context," "Supply-Demand Dynamics and Price Trends in the Lead-Zinc Market," and "Current Status and Development Trends of China's Secondary Lead Industry," respectively.
The seminar also received recognition and support from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. During the meeting, delegates visited Yuguang Group’s regenerated lead process, wastewater treatment technology for production, and the extended industrial chain for comprehensive utilization of waste residues and leftover ores, further reinforcing their belief that "green development and shared future" is the scientific path for enterprises to achieve excellence, sustainability, and long-term success.
